Fad diets are being used more and more everyday by health conscious people or by those who are desperate to lose weight. However, there are certain facts about these that are not known by everyone. Here are a few disadvantages you need to be aware of.
1. They are temporary – Fad diets cannot be followed all the time, as their effects are temporary and only work till the time they are maintained. Once you switch to normal diet after achieving your target, the weight gain process becomes rapid.
2. Affects metabolism – In fad diets, you are made to eat only a structured amount of food, which can also be insufficient for your body and can affect your metabolism, making it fluctuate.
3. Deficiency – Since you are depriving yourself of an ample diet, there are possibilities of having nutritional deficiencies. Carbohydrates are essential to provide energy for the body, but fad diets reduce their intake, which can lead to deficiencies. Not many are aware that not all fats are bad for health and the body actually needs them.
4. Hair loss – Lack of nutrition often leads to hair loss and can also lead make your hair brittle. Hair growth needs ample proteins, which can fluctuate in case you are following fad diets.
