Many expecting mothers are worried about putting on excess weight during pregnancy. However, not many are aware that putting on excess weight during pregnancy can be avoided with a help of a few easy and simple tips.
1. Avoid processed food – Maintaining weight is all about having a control on processed food. Pregnancy is a time of cravings and it is essential that you have a control on your cravings. If you do have a craving, have a fruit or grab a handful of nuts instead of a tub of ice -cream and pickles.
2. Exercise (if permitted) – Exercise helps to keep up the metabolism of the body. If your doctor gives a green signal, go ahead and keep yourself active. Incorporate a few daily activities in your schedule like walking, swimming and other such simple exercises.
3. Count your calories consumed – If you want to avoid putting on excess weight, make sure that you count your calorie intake. Consume the amount of calories that are needed for you and the baby.
4. Monitor your weight – Keep a watch on your weight during pregnancy. On an average, women put on weight about 2 to 4 pounds during the first trimester and then an average of about 1 pound per week for the rest of the pregnancy.
